Personal Vision

My primary professional aspiration at this point in my career is to be a scholar in my teaching, research, and service. I want to be a life-long learner, finding time to read, write, reflect, and discuss the things that I do with others. Although I feel I have chosen the perfect profession, I do see myself working for a university system or state agency to implement a state-wide, or even national or international, distance education program. With today's emerging technologies, I foresee major shifts in knowledge acquisition, with our educational communities becoming more and more global. But even with the technological infrastructure in place, the importance of the human dimensions cannot be overlooked. Working in multi-national settings will bridge increasingly become a requirement. I see myself as a conduit, a bridge, a link-between the technological tools that mediate communication and the fundamental instructional design that makes a difference in the effectiveness of that communication.
